1. Estudios de Sociolingüística accepts unpublished works (papers or reviews) that deal with related topics to sociolinguistics in a wide and interdisciplinary sense.

2. Papers and reviews will be accepted in any of the following languages: Galician, Spanish, Catalan, English, French, Portuguese or Italian. The aim is to find throughout each issue a considerable presence of the main international languages.

3. Kinds of reviews. Three kinds of reviews will be accepted: A) Informative reviews, about 500 words of extent (1 page). B) Critical reviews until 2.000 words of extent (until 4 pages). C) Critical reviews until 4.000 words (until 8 pages). Each review will be headed by the complete bibliographical data of the reviewed study. Otherwise, the same norms that we detail for papers will apply to reviews (except for the absence of abstracts and key-words in the case of reviews).

4. The text must be presented in an electronic format. The electronic version can be in PC format (either in WordPerfect 6.1, or in Word 7), or in MacIntosh format (in Word 5.1, or in ClarisWorks 3.0).

5. Four copies of a printed version must also be attached.

6. The disk and the four copies of manuscript must be submitted to: Fernando Ramallo (secretary of Estudios de Sociolingüística); Facultade de Filoloxía e Traducción; Universidade de Vigo; As Lagoas-Marcosende, s/n; Apartado 874; E-36200-Vigo (SPAIN).

7. The number of pages, Din A4 size, must not exceed 30. They must be printed on only one side, and be numbered.

8. Adjoined to the original manuscript, it must be sent an abstract of 12-15 lines (between 150 and 200 words), and a list of key-words (a minimum of three and a maximum of six words). Both the abstract as the key-words must be sent on the language of the text, and also translated to English. This abstract and the list of key-words, in both languages, must be present in the first page of the text (inmediately before its beginning) in Times New Roman, size 11.

9. The first page of the manuscript must always contain, in this order and in different lines: a) the title; b) the author’s or authors’ first name followed by their surname; c) the author’s institutional affiliation; d) the author’s electronic mail and/or fax; e) key-words (written in the language of the text and also in English); f) an abstract of 12-15 lines (in the language of the text, followed by its translation to English).

The information stated in a, b, c and d, must be centered. The list of key-words and the abstract (e and f) will have complete justification.

The text must start at the second page of the manuscript. As the heading of this page, you must exclusively include the title of the study, the list of key-words and the abstract.

10. An asterisk (*) must be immediately placed after the author’s surname(s) in the first page. This asterisk must refer to a footnote that must tell about: the author’s (or authors’) contact address, affiliation (and institutional address), home and/or office numbers, fax (including the corresponding national and regional phone codes) and e-mail.

11. The textual sections and epigraphs must always be ordered in arabic numbers (e.g. 1., 3.1, 5.1.2, etc.).

12. Other aspects of the format: 1,5 line spacing. Kind of letter: Times New Roman, size 12. Margins: 3 cm to the left, right, top and bottom. Complete justification. Commentaries must appear in footnotes: they must be numbered with arabic numbers from 1 onwards, and the numbering must be continuous from the beginning to the end of the text. Size 11 must be used for the numbers, and size 10 for the text of the notes (always Times New Roman). Footnotes will not be used to enter new complete bibliographical references, that, in all cases, will be included in the final bibliography of the study.

13. Tables, charts and graphics: both in the electronic and written version, each table, chart or graphic must be correctly inserted in their definite place. All these tables, charts and graphics must be treated with the appropriate tools of the text processor used for the text format.

14. Transcription of talk fragments: the previous norms apply to these ones. In those cases where transcription conventions were used, an "Appendix" with these conventions must be included at the end of the text, immediately before the bibliography.

Examples and fragments of transcription (monolingual, bi- and plurilingual) must be, and where appropriate, attached (and in independent and successive lines) to the corresponding gloss in the language of the text, and also attached to its translation to this language.

15. Bibliographical references inside the text. The following format must be observed:

16. Model for the inclusion of quotations: use 1,25 cm French indentation. Kind of letter: Times New Roman, size 10. The text must have complete justification.

17. A list entitled "Bibliographical references" must be included at the end of the manuscript. Follow the examples below:

19. The received manuscripts that observe these norms will be evaluated (preserving always the author’s anonymity) by specialists from the Scientific Committee of Estudios de Sociolingüística. In the light of the assessors’ reports, the Editorial Committee will decide in favour of its publishing.
